INTRODUCING
The Grid — built for founders who are actually building.
Welcome to The Grid. VentureGrid’s weekly newsletter for the SEA startup ecosystem. We’re building the mentorship marketplace connecting founders with 200+ operators, investors, product experts, GTM experts, and more. The Grid is how we share what we’re seeing from inside the build. Hit reply anytime — we read everything.
☝ THE TAKE
Founders are overdesigning everything again.
Decks. Landing pages. Branding. Waitlists.
Even onboarding flows somehow look expensive now.
But weirdly, the startups doing best lately feel… simpler?
Cleaner copy. More obvious products.
Less: “AI-powered workflow infrastructure ecosystem platform.”
More: “We help restaurants stop wasting inventory.”
You can literally feel when a startup actually understands its customer.
The copy gets shorter. The onboarding gets less clever. The product starts sounding boring in a good way.
A lot of founders think clarity makes them look less ambitious.
Usually, it’s the opposite.
☝ OPERATOR PLAYBOOK
A pitch deck thing people don’t talk about enough:
Most founders explain the product too early.
Investors don’t care yet.
First they need to feel:
why this problem sucks
why it matters now
why somebody finally has to solve it
THEN you show the product.
A lot of decks are basically:
“here’s our AI dashboard”
before anyone even understands why the market is broken.
That’s usually where attention dies.
⚡ FROM THE GRID

Founders are moving from “how do we get funded” to “how do we actually execute.” That’s a healthy signal for the ecosystem. Know someone who needs to get unstuck? → venturegrid.social
🌟 MENTOR OF THE WEEK

Issaree Rujiralawan
Early-stage Investor • Thailand
This mentor spent the last month helping founders completely rewrite how they tell their story.
Apparently, fixing 3 slides is cheaper than another 6 months of fundraising.
That’s it for this week.
Forward this to a founder friend who still has “revolutionizing” in their deck.
